Apples & Pears at Suffolk Fashion Week 2015

??????????????????????????????????

Last week I was invited along to do a guest blog for Apples and Pears who appeared at Suffolk Fashion Week 2015.

Liz Smith, the owner of Apples and Pears very kindly invited me along to watch when I was unable to get there in time to take part in the catwalk, and I was excited to see the pieces that were being showcased.

Liz and her team had a stand within the ‘Retail Hall’ and this displayed a lovely array of their latest collection, with some lovely pieces.  It was great to see lots of colour and bold patterns within the collection and I couldn’t wait to see it showcased on the models that I had met earlier in the evening.

As we made our way through to the catwalk area, the room was ‘dressed’ up amazingly, it looked like a wedding venue! Becky, a fellow blogger (Bixxboxx) and I found our seats, and to our amazement we were served with a lovely array of Mezze dishes before the catwalk started.

The Catwalk show, showcased several local companies goods, and it was great to see there was so much support for small local businesses, and it was great that amongst them was Apples and Pears, the only Plus Size retailer in attendance.

I asked Liz why she was keen to be a part of Suffolk Fashion Week 2015, and she stated:

“Fashion should be for everyone, but most general fashion events cater primarily for smaller sizes. I’m really proud that by bringing Apples and Pears to this event we are putting plus size fashion on the agenda, at least locally. This is our second year showing at Suffolk Fashion Week. Last year we, as a company were really new to doing catwalk shows, so this year I really wanted Apples and Pears to make an impact. I love that a fashion event this ambitious happens locally – it’s a great opportunity for us.”

Then it came time for Apples and Pears to take to the runway, and modelling their collection was Claire Hynes, Natasha Grimes, Emily Blake, Cara Maris-Betts, Tracey Haynes, Nikki Haylett, and Natalie Moloney. They models did a great job and looked fab in their outfits.

Many people probably do not know that in some of their garments Apples and Pears are able to offer a made to measure service, which is simply not on offer elsewhere. I think this is such a great opportunity for people of different shapes to all be able to wear the same garment that is tailored to suit them.

Here is the lovely Claire Hynes in one of the made to measure dresses:

I would like to thank Liz and her team at Apples and Pears for making me feel so welcome and for the hospitality that was provided throughout the evening, it was a pleasure and I look forward to your next event! And it was great to meet Becky from Bixxboxx a fellow blogger that is local to me 🙂
